Benefits

  • The advantage of being accessible on the go and virtually anywhere
  • Easily accessible and usually less resource intensive to use
  • Levels the playing field by eliminating discriminators that may otherwise exist in person
  • Expands communication capabilities
  • Fun to use and interactive

Detriments

  • While it is usually less resource intensive to use it is, usually, more resource intensive to acquire. Technology is not cheap
  • Computer literacy required. Online tools require computer knowledge to utilize
  • Sometimes online tools lack a user friendly interface which is critical to successful use of the tool
  • Online tools require internet connection and that connection is not always reliable
  • Can be distracting
